Latest art project to come home from art class: an example of paper batik.
The snowman and border were drawn first on tag paper and then coloured with oil pastel. Special attention was spent on contrasting colours, and perspective and size of details. Once the coloring was complete the paper was carefully crumpled in order to wrinkle the paper and crack the pastel. Black tempera paint was washed across the entire surface and then rinsed off. The black paint settles in the cracks and makes it look like fabric. After it has dried completely, add 3 globs or dribbles of white craft glue to the side sky area. Cover with sparkles and shake clean for snow flakes.
I also did this project with class and it turned out really well.
Thanks to Shari Pratt at Creative Kaos for the amazing ideas!
